Let’s talk about lettering and how it is used to enhance your business ideas. What is in a letter? According to the encyclopedia, lettering is an umbrella term that covers the art of drawing letters, instead of simply writing them. Lettering is considered an art form, where each letter in a phrase or quote acts as an illustration. Lettering may be drawn, applied using stencils, or using a digital medium with a stylus, or a vector program.

There are many different types of lettering, such as: Arial, Sans Serif, Serif, Cursive / Script. Those are just a few styles. There are also different types of lettering using calligraphy. There is hand lettering and hand lettering, also known as “faux calligraphy”, is an art form where each letter or word is sketched by hand. Artists can inject their own style and personality into each letter, from simple lines to spectacular flourishes. Before you jump into practicing hand lettering, here’s what you should know to get started.

In art, graphic design and typography, lettering refers to the creation of hand-drawn letters to apply to an object or surface. Lettering may be drawn or applied using stencils.

When choosing lettering for any business, we all need to ask ourselves, can the audience read this? Is the style to fancy in making out what it says? The different types of lettering are:  branding design, logo design, graphic design, symbol design, brush lettering, corporate design, typography love, typography letters.

Lettering is a very important aspect of your graphic designing. The project when finished, should look attractive, but also be readable. There are those who read them, there are those who write them, and then there are those who draw them. Lettering is the process of creating illustrations with letters, numbers, or any type of character or phrase. It’s far removed from the ordinary writing most of us do.
